Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. How did you have your system "refilled" and what testing was performed? Really important question, because the 2018 Civic takes a special refrigerant that generally the dealership only has - R1234yf. Also, Honda is aware of 2 concerns for refrigerant loss - condenser leakage and compressor shaft seal leakage. These are common problems and have extended warranty coverages at your dealership. But if you've had the vehicle worked on elsewhere and tampered with you may have contamination problems. Just a heads up that this could be more complicated to resolve than you thought. Stalling sounds like the compressor may be seized when turned on, causing the engine to stall via the drive belt. This would be highly unusual but if the wrong work and refrigerant was utilized - anyones guess as to what happened.. I'd recommend that the shop that did the work tell you what they did and with what refrigerant. I would tell you also that seeing a local dealer for a possible leak is what I would do because of the extra coverages. If damage is already done, the dealership is probably not the first stop, have your original mechanic weigh in first.
