What is your question?
I bought my 2017 Civic in February & didn't realize the AC wasn't working until June. I took it the dealer who charged $275 for a diagnosis, they said it was the compressor. My question is can they diagnose it properly w/o going underneath and removing the splash guard? (Which they didn't do, just the leak test. Also they didn't put the refrigerant caps back on which is irrelevant but shows sloppy work).
What makes this problem better or worse?
N/A
How long has your 2017 Honda Civic had this problem?
I bought in 02/20 ; didn't realize there was a problem until it became hot outside

Hello, get a second opinion from a different Honda dealership. American Honda has provided extended warranty coverage for replacement of leaking condensers. The condenser - which sits in front of the radiator - has been found to be the failed part a significant amount of the time. The compressor, however, has been misdiagnosed by dealerships also a significant amount of the time, to the point that Honda has had to require "controlled" ordering of the parts to dealerships. The compressors can show signs of discoloration around the pulley area and some light lube marks -- which some technicians are mistaking for a "leak". Naturally, all cases are different, but i'm willing to bet that your failure is actually a condenser, not a compressor, and that you'll likely not have to pay for any repairs. Good luck!
