I have a 2013 Honda Civic and my car has not started on me three times!! When the car doesn't start, it makes this clicking noise in the cabin while turning the key, but once you stop, the radio and air conditioner power on. It's weird. I've had to be jumped each time. The dealership says I need a new battery. I brought my car to Autozone to test the battery and they said the starter, alternator, and battery are fine and that my battery was good and didn't need to be replaced. I have no idea what's going on, but this isn't cool!
I think they are lying it probably is the starter. mine is doing the same . try turning key click wait than 2nd click count to 3 and the 3 click try to start it or put car in neutral and slam it in park and try it these worked for me for awhile. till late April this year and July 4th needed a jump. now I am keeping my fingers crossed. lets all get together to 7 on your side and complain and maybe they will lean on Honda to get a starter recall. anybody with me?
Lucky, i have a 2015 EX-L and the thing struggles to start like once a month. I think my car is acting a little diff than yours tho. My car just tries really hard to start but cant until the 4 or 5 time i turn the damn key sometimes. i was dealing ok, but last month at the beach i was flat out embarrassed with all my college girlfriends in the car with me when it took me like 15 min to get it to finally frickin start for us. i just hate it, its humiliating when it happens to me. anyone have any idea why it takes so long to start my dang 2015? seems like everyone elses just clicks
I too have a Honda civic sedan 2013 it started last year. 3-4 times panel lit up but not start. So called AAA and he told me to first turn everything off. and then put key in ignition turn 1 click then 2 wait and then 3 and it should turn over. it happened about 3 other times and it worked. this year it happened and nothing worked had to get it jumped than fine for 2 months and happened again also needed a jump. Brought it to Honda shop and checked ignition, starter, battery, and accelerator, everything fine. now its been good since July 5th but if it needs a jump again I am having it towed to another dealership. get another opinion.
I have been hearing too much about this. Must be a defect in the ignition system. I would think its something mechanical in the steering stalk.
nope my husband had random starting problems than got worse. took it to Honda shop got the ignition and starter relay fixed. The battery was a year old. and it worked good for about 2 months then it started all over randomly not starting. till this Monday it would start with a jump. so AAA fooled around trying different things. and finally stated it was the starter. so towed it back to same shop, they tested everything again to discover it was the starter. Now 2013 Honda civic is having problems randomly not starting now for 1year and 1/2 the last 2 times needed a jump. brought to shop tested everything couldn't find anything wrong. its been ok now so far as of july5 2018. I am keeping my fingers crossed. if it happens again I am towing it to another Honda shop and et a second opinion. sounds like there should be a starter recall for Hondas 2006 and up to at least 2013
