IME lights sometimes come on

Hello, the IMA, or "Integrated Motor Assist" is the functional Hybrid portion of the power train of the vehicle. This consists of the hybrid battery, the hybrid electric motor inside the transmission housing, and all related control components. Typically when the IMA light comes on, it is an indication of the inability of the IMA system to generate enough power. Diagnostic testing is needed to find out what is going on. Seek assistance from your local Honda dealership -- some Hybrids have warranties in excess of 10 years for their batteries and other components, so you may have some relief here. If you don't, you can sure ask Honda for help -- they will often give you some when related to your hybrid Civic.
