What is your question?
I changed my alternator today and I cannot get the tensioner pulley to release and tighten the belt back up what is causing this. And now it won't tighten and it's got a lot of slack

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If that tensioner isn’t springing back after the alternator swap, it’s like a stubborn cat refusing to move. First, double-check that the belt is routed properly—one wrong loop, and it won’t let the tensioner do its job. If that checks out, the tensioner itself may be shot. These things have a spring inside, and after 18 years, it might’ve thrown in the towel. Replacing it is the way to go if it’s seized or doesn’t have enough spring in its step.
