What is your question?
A friend has a 2006 Honda Civic that he wants to sell. It has 245,000 highway miles on it. He said that there is a small oil leak somewhere because it will occasionally drip a small drop of oil. He said that it doesn't use oil because when he gets his oil changes every 5000 miles, the oil is still full. Would it be wise to purchase this vehicle with the oil leak? The car drives wonderfully and everything else is mechanically sound.

Hello, this vehicle could get many many years and miles and use still. However, there are other components besides the engine which you should be thinking about. Such as the transmission, for example. Automatic, internal wear could occur. Manual, you could have expensive clutch repair issues. The air conditioning system could fail which could be an expensive repair. The starting and charging system is vulnerable at this high mileage especially. I have seen Honda Civic's of this vintage go well over 600,000 miles. But it is not without repair and maintenance religiously. And with expenses as they come up. That may or may not help your decision, but you really should know that it's not a simple easy thing you're getting into. The oil leak is not the biggest of your concerns. That is for sure.
