What is your question?
2004 Honda civic dx car won’t crank. It will crank right up with a jump and stays on. As soon as I start to go a little ways it dies. I replaced the alternator. I’m thinking it’s the battery and I’m going to buy a used battery tomorrow. What else could it be?
What makes this problem better or worse?
The car dies out when I Stratton to drive or turn accessories on
How long has your 2004 Honda Civic had this problem?
A few weeks

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. If your Civic starts with a jump but dies when you turn on the lights or start driving, it does sound like a battery issue, especially since the alternator is new. You may also have a poor electrical connection somewhere in the circuit. If the battery is weak or has lost its ability to hold a charge, it may not provide the consistent voltage needed to keep the engine and accessories running. A failing battery can cause the engine to bog down when the electrical load increases, such as when the lights or other accessories are turned on. Before buying a replacement, you might have your current battery tested at a parts store to confirm if it's the source of the issue. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
