Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. The expansion take for the cooling system is there for the purpose of storing coolant that is sometimes needed and sometimes not needed depending on engine temperature and the flow of coolant through the cooling system. It is not abnormal for the level in the tank to fluctuate somewhat. However, if you have bubbles in the tank in the coolant, it could be an indication of exhaust backpressure from the engine coming through the cooling system. This can be due to an internal engine coolant leak. Now I don't want to raise alarm because I don't really know what's going on with your car. I'm not sure if there's any reason to be worried about anything. But, if you're having warning lights and performance issues, checking for a combustion chamber cooling system issue may be warranted. Being that your vehicle is 23 years old and not knowing the mileage - I cannot really weigh in fully. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
