Why doesnt my car shift? Transmission fluid is full and clean and no odor! Starts just fine but I can literally shift in every gear and it just sits idol....
What makes this problem better or worse?
absolutely nothing....rode home in reverse parked it and now I dont even have reverse!
How long has your 2002 Honda Civic had this problem?

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Sadly, what you are describing sounds like an internal failure of the mechanical components of the transmission. Something inside has failed, and when that happens, debris spreads and causes damage to everything else. I imagine you will need an overhaul or replacement of your automatic transmission.
