What is your question?
Took car in for oil change and new tire, mechanic said oil and power steering leaking due to age of car and conditions do not drive it anymore,I had no problems up to then and knew about some oil leak for 8 months, not my regular mechanic should I get second opinion?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Had oil leak at least eight months, other mechanic just said keep eye on it
How long has your 2002 Honda Civic had this problem?
8 months, though I had steering problem but it was because of blown tire

Yes, always get a second opinion, especially in a case where you have a mechanic looking at your vehicle who is not the usual one. You have a nearly 20-year-old vehicle. Even under the best of circumstances you can expect certain things to age and fail. As a result, it will take a critical look by a knowledgeable and skilled technician to determine if you have a failure occurring that is seen to be more of an emergency and safety issue versus something that's just wearing out a time and mileage. You can take the same car and have it evaluated by three different people and get three different opinions. What you want to make sure of is that you are not unsafe.
