THE SPARK PLUG WIRES DON'T REACH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE PLUGS?

The wires are resistor type wires and are most likely damaged. The spark plug end of the wire has a crimped on connector and may pull away from the wire, try to lubricate the rubber boot and slide the outer boot back toward the distributor end of the wire so the inner part of the wire that attaches to the spark plug lengthens.

Are you using factory wires? Some after market wires don't fit right on a lot of foreign vehicles.
