my fuel gauge is unstable, when i fill up my tank , after driving for a few miles the needle start to dip down never knowing the correct amount of fuel.the needle on the dash move up and down depending how fast i drive.i need to know if my fuel pump needs replacing or if there is something wrong with the float in the fuel tank .

In order to buy the float you might as well buy the pump. These parts are hard to locate by themselves. Access the wires at the pump. Black is sensor ground & yellow & black is the signal to the dash. If you cut the yellow & black wire then watch the gauge as you ground it & leave it open you should be able to see the gauge sweep. These cars have more problems with a bad connection behind the instrument cluster. Try tapping on the dash. If the reading changes that's likely the cause. Take out the unit & take sand paper to the connection brass.
