All the electric went crazy with smoke coming from dash then it sat for 2 months and now won't start

The radio headlights windshield wipers, basically anything electric was going crazy while I was driving on the freeway and as I was getting to the shoulder smoke started coming out of the dash so I jumped out and un hooked the battery which was boiling and everything stopped. Prior to this I just installed a new alternator, it then sat for 2 months and it turns over fine but won't start with a new battery in it. Any thoughts or ideas? I need to get it running now for work and I don't even know where to start
