What is your question?
Accord makes grinding sound on most starts. Honda dealer said faulty VTC Actuator but will not replace because Honda Corp says not to. Honda's replacement VTC Actuator is not guaranteed to not make same noise. Thus Honda would not replace under warranty because would not solve issue. Dealer said just consider it a normal Honda noise. Last service told new Honda bulletin says also Honda has bad starter chain. Want me to pay for that & see if that fix noise. Still won't replace Actuator after all these years. This change in story does not give me confidence in Honda Corp
How long has your 2014 Honda Accord had this problem?
Years. It's a 2014 stated while still under warranty

Hello, I actually work with a Honda dealership right now. I can tell you that the VTC actuator does repair the noise. There is a service bulletin that addresses it and repairs it. The problem is, is it covered by American Honda? Under any kind of Honda paid coverage? The answer is: there is a time limit as to what Honda will cover. If you are beyond that time limit, you will not have coverage. This is where "goodwill" comes into play. This is where loyalty to your local dealership comes into play. I only say this is somebody who does this every day. If you are loyal to your dealership for parts and service repairs and maintenance, you can ask them to go to bat for you with Honda to help you out. If you are not loyal, you won't get help. Simple as that. I hate to say it, but the honest truth is, people who are loyal to American Honda dealerships will get help.
