What is your question?
Direction finder stuck at N AND temp at 76 but when adjusted to make it colder did not change although I could increase blower manually. The next day everything worked fine as if no problem ever occurred. Had a long hot trip. Overheated circuit board or temporary chip problem? Do both functions share the same common chip?
What makes this problem better or worse?

Don't think of this as circuit board, chip issues. Not a factor here. There is no link between direction of travel (N / S / E / W) and temperature control on this vehicle, unless the vehicle has been modified. For the temperature control, an intermittently malfunctioning temperature blend door actuator - for either the driver's or passenger's side, or both -- could be affecting proper temperature control intermittently. That's one guess - but testing hands on when the problem is occurring would be important. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
