my car wont turn over battery is good but dead

check starter, alternator has nothing to do with turning the car over

Alternator charges the battery, the battery is the reservoir of electrical energy, most likely the stater has failed but get a friend to crank over the engine while you check for voltage on the small wire at the starter.
