Sometimes as vehicles age with wear and tear -- and with unknown quality of the cut of an unknown key (from where I sit), you'll find that the ignition lock cylinder may bind internally. A technician may have some tricks to try and get the cylinder to release without damage, but it may be necessary to use force if damage is irreversable.
