The "D" light in the instrumet panel does not go on when the car is in "D". All other indictors in the instrument panel work. Why would this be so? Is there a bulb that I can access and change?

The center console (between the two front seats) needs to be removed to get access to the bulb. For the most part the console is secured by philip screws but the trim pieces are secured with clips that need to be gently pried on to disassemble. These trim pieces are easily damaged if improperly disassembled. Autozone have a lot of manuals free on line in the "do it yourself section (I was going to send you a link to the page you need but their site is down right now). You are probably best buying a workshop manual for your car, they are cheap and will help you avoid damaging anything. http://bit.ly/online_repair_manuals
possibly someone de-bulbed the d light to hide a transmission problem. Hondas D4 lights flash if there is a transmission problem, some shady dealerships remove the light instead of fixing the problem...
