What is your question?
Hello, I've been told that my Catalytic converter is failing. I do not have the common symptoms:Check Engine Light, Lack of power, strange smell, loss of power. What I do have is a clanging, banging sound which, I was informed, was the converter failing. Is the banging sound a good indicator of a failing converter?

If the noise is coming from inside the catalytic converter case the internal catalyst material is breaking apart, under certain exhaust pressures it will be forced against the case and make noise.
the inside of the cat has melted and is now loose and banging around. if you do nothing, it will eventually lodge at the outlet of the converter and clogg up the exhaust and the car will not run. Roy
thanks a lot. I'll have it replaced.
