I have a 1998 Honda Accord. The a/c does not work (this may be relevant, I don’t know), the heater does. I want to use the tear and front defroster but the buttons rarely work. Sometimes I press them, they light, and briefly work - most of the time there is no light at all. Might there be a specific problem part that needs replacing? Thanks, Peter
What makes this problem better or worse?
Buttons work (mostly) when the car is first started, and before I start driving.
How long has your 1998 Honda Accord had this problem?

Hello, it sounds like the control panel for the climate control system is not working properly in itself. It will require troubleshooting to find out the root cause, up to and possibly including replacement of the controls themselves.
