1988,honda acc.during cold weather,steping on gas for 3 min.to warm the car. sulutios? THANK.

If you have a carbureted car, check the choke and idle-up function on the carburetor. If it's fuel injected, check the idle Air control (IAC) system on the throttle body, they get carbon fouled and get stuck or plugged. there's also the possibility of the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT) being out of calibration, but this would apply to a fuel injected car, mostly. Hi, check if you're low on engine coolant. If not remember its cold out there and the car may take a little longer than usual to warm up. Try my shop we will diagnose your car. gl Ted
