Received a card in the mail saying there is suppose to be FREE repairs on tail gate cables. Three times my dealer has replace cables and all three times I was charged for work that was suppose to be free. Where can I find the form to get reimbursed for work performed? (Policy dated July 2006 on page 2 asks "Did I pay for the work?") My truck seems to be worse on this as the new cables have the plastic covering splitting already.
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2002 GMC Sonoma. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
Actually, I can't. 06020 was superseded by 06020A. The warranty covers repairs from the start of when the truck was put in service (2002). By the time I got the truck, seven years have gone by. I had until 2007 (according to the bulletin) to file any claims with the dealer which doesn't seem fair because repairs should be free until 2014. Gosh, so complicated. I may take you up on the suggestion because repairs WERE made within the 12 years and maybe the dealer didn't know. Its worth a try.
I called GM and they told me I need to go to any GMC dealer and get the refund taken care of. The dealer charged me twice for the repair already and I have a replaced cable failing (plastic cover coming off) again.
11/5/2012: After some running around, the dealer game a copy of the form I needed to fill out for EACH charge. GM gave me a PO Box and I mailed my 2 bills in. Now, 2 months later, GM has no idea what happened to the bills I sent in for refund.
January 29, 2013
Finally got a reply from my Dealer and GM told them that there was too much time between the Repair and the request for refund. Some one dropped the ball here and I am leaning toward the dealer as they are suppose to know about all recalls for my vehicle. It was a recall going on for several years yet they did the repair anyway and charged me. They are trying to get a hold of the District Manager and see what they say.
