the fuses are ok. just replaced brake switch about 2 years ago. I removed the relay chmsl in the fuse panel in the engine compartment, then I plugged it back in. now they work fine. I also unplugged and replugged other relays since they dont really have a relay listed in the owners manual for brake lights. A few years back my brake lights would stay on even after shutting the truck off, which prompted me to replace the brake switch. this didnt solve the problem. I went onto a forum similar to this site and was told to replace a relay. sorry Im having a senior moment, I cant remember what relay I replaced. could a relay again be the problem ? the relay chmsl isnt even listed in the owners manual, but its in the picture on the page that shows and describes all the other fuses and relays ? I really appreciate You taking the time to reply and help me with this problem. Thank You in advance.
I'm glad you found your problem. Yes relays go bad when the contacts get worn or not making good contact anymore. Sometime you can tap on the relay and it will work again but eventually you'll have to replace it.
