What is your question?
I replaced the Plugs and wires first because the Check Engine light was on and I just had it service less then 2000 ago. Each time I took the truck in they said the COMPUTER in the truck is not communicating and showed NOT COMPLETE. First they said drive it 40 miles and come back. I did. Then they said drive it more and bring it back, I did. Then the same thing and they gave me 2 different additives and told me to drive it on the freeway at 65 mph for 40 miles and bring it back the minute the light goes out, I did. It still came out the same. So I replaced the Fuel Injector and O Rings. Drove it 80 miles on the freeway then straight to the shop and no Check Engine light showing. The same thing again except now it has Evaporative System NOT COMPLETE as well. I have asked them EVERY TIME, does it mean my Catalystic Converter is bad, they have always said NO! It's just the computer not communicating. 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD 6.0 Standard Cab
How long has your 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD had this problem?
Since the first week of November
Was this an actual automobile repair facilities mechanic that performed the testing?
I'm sorry I'm just seeing your reply. I am a disabled Vet and in treatment for Leukemia and can't do the work myself. I don't think anyone thought to check the fuses except my wife. My service seat belt light came on and she thinks it might have been the reason the computer is messed up and could just be a fuse. I thought it couldn't be as simple as a fuse. We live about 40 miles from a pro shop so we use our local auto shop for things I thought to be a simple like a smog. I have been told it is highly unlikely the Catalystic Converter is bad. The truck isn't that old. They are a auto repair and Smog station. I am thinking to take it to a different shop outside the area and see if it makes a difference and mention what you said about the fuses. Thank you for your help.
I talked to the owner of the shop today. He said what I was told about driving the truck 65 and 70 mph for 40 miles was incorrect. He then said to bring the truck to 60 mph for a few minutes, then drop down to 30 for a few minutes and repeat that a few times and bring it in. I just did that and it still did not pass. He is still saying that their tester is not saying my catalyst is bad and to keep trying. And all the fuses tested fine and he has no control how long the computer will take before it decides to communicate with their smog tester. My tags expired and now I don't know what to do.
