I have had bad trouble with the fuel pump relay..I would be driving and my 1998 GMC Savannah bus would just shut off..It is a small school bus converted into an ice cream truck for vending.I made no changes to any electrical etc..All I did was take out the seats in the small school bus.The problem was that the fuel pump relay would pop up..When your vehicle stalls or wont start open up the hood go to the box on the right hand side and push down your relays..It cost me over $700 to have my vehicle towed home from an event and only to be showed that that's why it wouldn't start. If I would drive over bumpy roads it seemed to happen too..I usually check them before I even leave, because it was no fun driving on a highway..and hear my bus shut off..When you push down on the relays you can actually feel it pop back in.It happens all the time.. .I have had several problems with this bus..the aircondition went and no one can figure out why..etc etc
how do I check? I know there is no return to tank, but don't know if there should be?
There is a fitting usually on the pass side of the of the fuel rail.
appears to be leading into intake, a throttle body injection? and yes pulled fuel line, at fitting at rear of engine, appears to be clean gas, nothing out of the return line, but don't know if there should be?
It's not throttle body, the 8th digit on the vin# should be an 'R'. Multi port, injectors are under the rectangle plug. Try to spray some good carb cleaner into the throttle and see if it trys to start to be sure if it is fuel related. May be another issue, no known issues with pumps except the brand of pump being used. Dirty wire connections could cause a voltage issue to the pump causing premature failure. Let me know if this works.
ok went got some carb cleaner, motor tries to fire up. noticed reviews online, all my fuel pumps have been airtex, put one in about 2 weeks ago the fuel pump doesn't sound right, and line has fuel but not much pressure, should I order a Delphi fuel pump or a different brand?
Have had problems with airtex, called the factory before and they paid me back. Try a Delphi, would be better hopefully last longer. Make sure your fuel tank is cleaned as well, check your fuel filter often for junk from wherever you get your gas, their tanks could be giving it to you.
ordered a Delphi, will be in Friday, thanks for help, will post yea or nay when I get it installed.
Hope it's great
