Ive been having an issue lately where the oil pressure guage will drop when i take my foot off the accelerator, and sometimes drops to zero and the van stalls... ive replaced the oil pump but it still does it... problem is i drove to arizona (4hr straight drive) and back again a few days later... and it ran perfect... then i do a local run here about 1.5 hrs and on the way back out of no where the oil pressure gauge drops the check lights icon jumps on and the it stalls... i can drive it fine so long as the accelorator is pressed... then after a while... 15 mins... to an hour... it runs fine again... im lost lol need help
What makes this problem better or worse?
Maybe more when hotter... but sometimes it fine
How long has your 2001 GMC Savana 3500 had this problem?

Replacing the oil pump due to a gauge reading is not a good idea. Have you checked base engine oil pressure at idle and under load? With an actual pressure gauge? I'm wondering if the oil pressure drops because the engine speed drops to a very low or stalling level - meaning you have an engine performance issue? Hands on testing using a diagnostic tool capable of monitoring engine component operation is essential.
The REASON oil pressure goes to zero IS BECAUSE the engine has stalled ! Replacement of oil pump is a good bit of expense counting time to do so - which would have probably been enough to cover the actual repair by qualified personnel. This is likely due to a fuel delivery problem - which includes all related electronics. Good luck!
