you could have a bad sensor for the temp gauge i had a bad connection and the needle would spin in circles

Scanner - live data - will monitor engine temperature so it can be compared to the gauge. Has the thermostat actually been replaced??? Coolant at proper level? Radiator cooling fan operating correctly? When does this happen - highway speeds - idling at stop light etc.. ?
