What is your question?
Bought a 2012 GMC Savana 3 days ago. Test drove it then drove 4 hours halfway home. Three kids=Mult stops with vehicle off for 15 min to 1 hour and trip contin. Hotel for the night, started right up, drove 3 hours home with several stops. Woke up next morning started right up for church, went to leave church and as I turned the key it turned on enough to illuminate dash lights and ac blowing, but as I turned it further it wouldn’t crank at all and all lights and gears shut off. “Service deterrent system” message appeared and I wondered if it shut the car down since I entered from rear door and not driver door. Jump started with a battery pack, drove for about 30 minutes home. Tried to start again few hours later, nothing, not even gears moved. Battery has been taken out and charged and nothing happens. With keys removed rear speakers will stay on and something is clicking around the fuse box until battery is unhooked. Can jumpstart but if turned off, nothing. Alt? Security sys?
What makes this problem better or worse?
owned it for too short of time to know
How long has your 2012 GMC Savana 2500 had this problem?
1 day
Load testing along with specific gravity test using battery hydrometer should prove me right.. Batteries can fail at ‘any time’ - the symptoms you’ve posted (even the strange noise) are classic for a defective / internally shorted battery.. Replace battery and happy motoring..
Thank you!! Man, I certainly hope that’s all it is! My husband was wondering if the battery was bad since it starts as long as it’s jumped off. This vehicle looks like a monster to work on with everything way up under the dash😐. He’s going to get a battery on his lunch to try that out. Odd thing is, the battery that’s in it looks brand new but the dealer wasn’t the one to replace it. Maybe it’s faulty and no one has had the chance to notice it with it being new 🤞🏻
I’ve pulled brand new batteries off the shelf that were defective.. New battery will take care of this problem! Clean cable connections thoroughly.
