What is your question?
My son has a 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 SLE 5.7 and he has been having problems with it starting. It will crank but not start. If he waits a few minutes and tries again it will start. We changed the spark plugs and wires to see if that was causing it but it is still doing it. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on trial and error if any of you have seen this issue

Check for codes and fuel pressure and report back. We need more info. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
Fuel pressure MINIMUM is 50 psi when key is turned to the ON position... 49 psi and the engine will not start! ... Easy to test fuel pressure using a test gauge from auto parts store.. The reason the engine eventually starts is each time you crank the engine a little fuel gets injected into the cylinders - just not enough on the first attempt. You might as well figure on removing the truck bed and installing a new fuel pump module. Good luck!
BTW - yes I know the truck runs great now after it finally starts - but that will soon come to pass once the pump finally fails all together.. Try replacing the fuel FILTER first - however I suspect lazy / failing fuel pump is the culprit. Happy motoring.
There are no codes
