1988 gmc jimmy. What would make my headlights cut on and off?

The headlights cut on and off after running for about ten minutes thought it was the alternator so replaced that and the still do it what could it be?

take the headlight switch out.check the connector and the pins on the back of the switch,maybe burnt.
