Cruise control disengages when I hit a bump/ice. Should it be checked?

What is your question?

It only happens on a bumpy stretch or when I hit a patch of ice and the tires spin for a second. Otherwise it's never a problem

No, traction control safety feature causes this. It is normal. It reacts just like you tapping on the brakes and just needs reengaged.
