Factory subwoofer amplifier location
1 Reply
Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! In your 2011 GMC Acadia, the factory amplifier is typically located under the center console or behind the rear passenger side panel, depending on your trim level and sound system (Bose systems, for example, are slightly different). If you're adding a Kicker subwoofer, it’s best to tap into the rear speaker wires or the factory subwoofer output (if equipped) using a line output converter (LOC) to feed signal to your aftermarket amp. Factory systems often don’t have dedicated RCA outputs, so the LOC is key for bridging stock to aftermarket. Be sure to connect your Kicker's amp directly to the battery for power, and use a solid ground point in the rear of the vehicle. Secure the remote turn-on wire to a switched 12V source, like the fuse box or factory amp remote wire.
