Do I have to take the engine out of my 2 wheel drive gmc 2009 Acadia to replace the timing belt?

Hello, You don't have a timing belt. Your 3.6l engine has a timing chain, and never needs to be replaced... unless it were to break. If you have an issue with timing components (guide rails, etc..), removing the engine should not be necessary. Removing a motor mount is necessary, and it will allow you to tilt the engine. The other end of this is that the entire engine/transmission assembly could easily be removed with a lift, and that would allow the timing chain kit to be replaced very quickly and easily.
