What is your question?
There has been a loud screeching/grinding noise coming from under the hood for the past 4 or so days. At first I might have thought it was the start of brakes needing to be replaced. It seems to quiet, but it still there, once the engine warms up and we have been driving for several minutes on the road. The car seemed to be running fine, minus the noise and no messages were displayed. Then today I parked the car and returned to drive it 20 mins later and I received a message to "service battery charging system" and the battery light was one and there is no power steering. There have been no obvious leaks and I am about 500 miles overdue for an oil change. I have also noticed a "hot" or chemical smell, but my oil/brakes/etc are all working fine.
What makes this problem better or worse?
noise seems better once engine is warm
