my car just started overheating when I drive on the free way we replaced the water pump last year how do you find out what is causing it to overheat

You may have a clogged radiator, those radiators typically get loaded up with debris in the lower tubes, so feel the radiator core with your hands (carefully so as to avoid burns or injury) and see if the lower area is cooler than the top area.
