Engine light comes on have it checked it says slippage it does not slip.

As answered above these transmissions can give trouble and I guess setting codes could be a solenoid or something hanging up which makes the computer think the transmission is slipping. It may be a sign of a transmission issue. Changing the oil and filter may be the cheapest place to start.
