slide it away from bell housing, assuming your exhaust is not preventing you from dropping it

There is two different engine sizes available in that year, but I will try my best. Did you remove all three mounting bolts? The starter solenoid does prevent it from removing easily, so a little "twisting" is needed to remove it.
