my 1996 thunderbird is making a loud thump noise at the back tires when making a turn or going over bumps

i am hearing a loud banging noise at the rear of the auto, when turning corners or going over bumps. it sounds like it is coming from the rear end . the bang sounds at every turn.

What makes this problem better or worse?

when turning to go around corners and also going over bumps
