A distinct loud CLICK when shifting to reverse. Is this a transmission problem?

If you mean does it idle as usual, like its always idled, then the answere is Yes! So, if it's the tranmission, does that mean the whole transmission needs replaced in the near future? Or some kind of maintenance needed?
