A distinct loud CLICK when shifting to reverse. Is this a transmission problem?

While in park, when I shift to reverse, I hear a very distinct loud CLICK. Is this going to be a transmission problem? There is 206,000 mile on the car.

Is the idle speed correct? If it is not too high then the problem may be in the transmission.

If you mean does it idle as usual, like its always idled, then the answere is Yes! So, if it's the tranmission, does that mean the whole transmission needs replaced in the near future? Or some kind of maintenance needed? Thank you for your comments!
