I am wanting to replace the heater and ac control, this is a atc

What is your question?

I can only get it out just a bit, unable to get to the plugs on the back of the unit. the unit will not come out but a inch or two. i am using the ford radio removal tool, but again only comes out just a bit.

I used a metal coat hanger to make two U shaped pieces with 11/2 to 2 inches of wire going into the unit. I pushed them both in at the same time, and the unit popped right out. Give it a try it's a free fix.
