Car dies while driving, sometimes starts again fine, sometimes doesn't

What is your question?

For the last year or so the car will die while driving, usually accompanied by clicking noises and the gauges sometimes going haywire for a few seconds. It usually starts back up fine but sometimes will just keep clicking for a while. It happens sporadically sometimes going months without an incident and then happening multiple times in a day. The last time it happened it wouldn't start again for about 15 minutes. Lights were really dim. All of the sudden it started up fine. Is this one of the relays going bad? The PCM? Driving me crazy.
