Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. If your Taurus is accelerating on its own after replacing the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), the issue might stem from a few areas. A malfunctioning or misadjusted TPS can cause unintended throttle behavior. Ensure the TPS is calibrated correctly, as a miscalibration can trick the engine into thinking you're pressing the gas. Also, a vacuum leak can lead to unintended acceleration by allowing unmetered air to enter the engine, so double-check hoses and connections near the intake manifold for any leaks or loose clamps. The idle speed may also need adjustment, especially after replacing parts that impact the air intake. You might want to consider a relearning procedure for the engine control module to reset throttle and idle parameters, as this helps the ECU recalibrate with the new components.
