Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. If your Taurus starts but won't move, and you heard a loud crunching noise before it stopped, it sounds like there's an issue with the transmission or drivetrain. The fact that the RPMs and speedometer increase when you put it in drive suggests that the engine and transmission are engaging, but the power isn't reaching the wheels. This could be due to a broken axle, a failed transmission component, or an issue with the differential. Given the symptoms, it's important to have a professional inspect the vehicle to determine the exact cause and prevent further damage. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered. Give us a call at 877-913-1554, and we will happily help you out!
