I had this same problem not to long ago! It turns out the only way to fix it is to take it to the dealership. It seems the computer reads it wrong. There is a leak somewhere and you have fluids somewhere in the cylinders. The only way to fix it is to drain everything from the engine, remove the cylinders, clean them, replace them, and fill the fluids. This cost me $450.00 at the dealership! Good luck, but don't drive it too long like that!
I'm guessing that you have a check engine light on: http://repairpal.com/check-engine-light It sounds like you have some sort of fault that is causing problems throughout the emissions control system. These are sometimes extremely complex problems, and it's rarely that all the parts associated with the codes just need to be replaced. Additionally, are you able to clear the codes with your scanner? Last of all, it really sounds like the emissions faults have your car in limp mode. I often recommend for ugly problems like this to get the help of a really good diagnostic tech who knows his way around OBD emissions problems.
