What is your question?
I have a used 2000 ford taurus that doesnt run. Recently I replaced the alternator, serpentine belt, had a tune up, and oil change. That still didnt do it. I replaced the battery and the car moved a little and began to jerk. It gives off a black smog that covered the parts under the hood. A mechanic says that I need to replace the fuel pump. Another mechanic tells me that I might just need to replace the fuel line, etc. Please help me. Oh, my car is a 3.0 V6 OHV fuel flex engine. And I also need work on the catalytic converters.

Is the check engine (service engine) light illuminated? If so, the first step in diagnosis will be to connect the scan tool and check the trouble codes. You can also use the scan tool to read misfires and fuel trim data while the engine is running. You mention black smoke, and the smoke is not coming from the tail pipe but under the hood? Do you have an exhaust leak by any chance? Can you hear a ticking or other exhaust noise while it's running? An exhaust leak before the oxygen sensor can throw off the fuel mixture If the technicians say it is fuel related, they will need to test fuel system pressure. If the fuel pump does not operate, the pressure will reflect that. If the pressure bleeds off when the pump is off, that indicates some sort of fuel leak (fuel lines, pressure regulator, fuel injector, fuel pump check valve, etc). They'll need to diagnose and pinpoint the problem. hope this helps!
if your cataylic exhaust system is bad your exhaust is backing up which is shutting you down. cars have to get rid of their exhaust in order to run.
