What is your question?
Hi, I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE 24 valve 3.0L DOHC with a huge problem. It started with the starter one day it just died on me so i had that replaced and when i turned my car on it started but the battery light had come on and my battery was dead. i had it looked at by a few mechanics and they had said it was the alternator so i bought that new and replaced that too along with a brand new tested battery just to be safe. This still has not fixed my problem and I'm out of suggestions. Does anyone have any ideas?

A rough check for the alternator is, turn on the ignition switch to the on but not run position do you see an icon on the instrument panel representing a battery, if you do not see this battery icon the alternator is not seeing power to allow it to charge. Start the engine does the battery icon go out. A more complex but good diagnostic test is checking "voltage drop" on the battery ground and power cables. You can find a video on how to do a voltage drop test on youtube. Put a volt meter across the battery terminals with the engine off, at rest the battery voltage should be 12.6 volts if the battery is fully charged. Now get a friend to start the car while you watch the voltmeter, the voltage reading across the battery should read approximately 14.6 volts if the alternator is charging correctly.
IF THE ALTERNATOR IS AT FAULT, THE BATTEREY LITE WILL GLOW! IF the system has a drain, while the car is not being used you need to have it checked.it could be a lite in the glove box, trunk, courtesy lite, inside, under the dash,on a door,or a bulb that is not glowing, but draining the battery even an alternator, even while you dont use the car!
