tachomiter not working at all now

More than likley you have a wiring concern somewhere that needs to be traced down. The tachometer basically gets the signal directly from the engine's processor. If you have no driving problems, but the tach does not work, then it is likely the wiring issue or the cluster / tach itself at fault.
