What is your question?
We have a Taurus that's been sitting around and a family member deemed the engine dead and never bothered to investigate further. What happened was that it began to sputter then when pulled over and hood popped, there was oil everywhere, even dripping from the underside of the hood. Due to us never finding out in time, it's sat here for a while and I'm taking it upon myself to try and clean it up and troubleshoot what the issue is, to determine if it's a small fix or something bigger.

Hello, the key will be to determine where the oil came from and why. There is a significant amount of unknowns information here. Did someone overfill the engine oil? As a result did excessive crankcase pressure expel oil from the engine? How is the crankcase ventilation system - the PCV system? I'd check engine compression, spark plug condition, and drain all the engine oil, change the filter, and attempt to run the engine. It's too hard to know what's going on until you gather some information based on the current condition.
