i AM HAVING A SEVERE OVERHEATING PROBLEM WHERE i CAN ONLY DRIVE ABOUT 5 MILES ONE WAY HOT OR COLD AND THE CAR OVERHEATS! cAN YOU PLEASE HELP AND GIVE ME SOME TIPS OR ADVICE i CAN CHECK TO FIX MYSELF!

I would start with replacing the thermostat and making sure the cooling fan is operating properly.
I have seen bad thermostats and lots of blown head gaskets on these. I will send to your email address an article I wrote for Repairpal that we have not yet published. It shows the test for checking for a blown head gasket and other cooling system related problems.
like they said it sure can be the thermostat...blown head gasket? most of the time the car gives off a sweet smell good luck
Could you send me the article you wrote for testing for a blown head gasket and other cooling system related problems? i have a 1992 ford taurus LX with the 3.0 DOHC engine and have changed the thermostat, radiator, hoses, water pump, Two sensors, and the fan control module located beside the battery and driver side finder. fans do run when hot, but i don't know if the fans are on high or low speed? thank you John (arky_hawkman@yahoo.com)
