What would make one side on an engine run hotter than the other side?

Are you speaking of the area around the center electrode on the plug body itself? I just wonder if the plugs and gap were correct, if one bank of the engine has more or less fuel or oil influence. I don't think either side burns "hotter", just that there's another variable that is likely insignificant but notable.
